ACMI Zoetrope in Melbourne

Rapid Pro a leading Australian rapid prototyping service provider have recently teamed up with Megafun and Krome Studios to build the characters for the Tasmanian Tiger Zoetrope on display at the ACMI (Australian Center for the Moving Image) in Federation Square Melbourne.

Rapid Pro had to develop a new method for building the plaster characters because traditional methods were not acceptable due to the intricacy of the characters. In all there are 7 different characters with up to 32 different variations of each needed to produce the smooth lifelike motion seen in the video.

XYZ Innovation – Objet’s New Desktop Range

Objet24We recently attended the Melbourne stop of XYZ Innovation’s Objet Desktop launch. XYZ are the exclusive distributors of the Objet range of 3D printers and are currently touring Australia and NZ showing off the newest edition to the Objet range, the Objet24 and Objet30. We posted some information into these printers in a previous post a few weeks back. As far as we can tell, these machines are targeting the entry level market and are designed to bring the high quality and speed of the Objet Polyjet technology to a broader market. The parts that these things can print need to been seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated as the level of detail and smooth surface finish that can be achieved is amazing! We have added some photos of printed parts in our example parts gallery.
